Wilford Goh

After his formative studies with Chan Chee Mee, Wilford obtained a Bachelor of Music (Hons), First Class, in both piano and violin studies at the Royal College of Music, London. Wilford also holds a Postgraduate Diploma (Distinction) from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, and a Master of Arts (First Class) from the Universität Mozarteum, Salzburg, in violin performance. He is a multiple prize-winner in both piano and violin competitions within Singapore as well as in the UK. During his studies, Wilford has had the opportunity to study with notable musicians and pedagogues including Jan Repko, Chen Jiafeng, Niel Immelman, Esther Hoppe, Gabrielle Lester, the Sacconni Quartet, Robin Ireland (Lindsays Quartet), Cibrán Sierra (Quiroga Quartet), Markus Tomasi (Concertmaster, Mozarteum Orchestra), and the Tana Quartet.

A firm believer in the power of collaborative music-making, Wilford has had the privilege of working overseas with orchestras such as the Birmingham Royal Ballet, Dorset Opera Festival, Camerata Salzburg, and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under esteemed leaders and conductors, while also performing regularly with his string quartets and other chamber music groups in both the UK and Salzburg. Since his return to Singapore, Wilford regularly freelances with the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and also serves as Concertmaster and Principal Violinist for other groups including the Orchestra of the Music Makers, the Metropolitan Festival Orchestra, the Singapore Lyric Opera, The Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Wayfarer Sinfonietta.

Through his teaching, Wilford hopes to inspire students with a genuine love for music-making and artistic appreciation, as well a life-long passion to strive for the very best of one's potential.
